A Walk though the Avon Valley Woodlands close to Hanham.
This circular walk takes the walker along the River Avon past Riverside cottages before cutting into deep woodland.
These woods were once quarries. The stone for the piers of the Clifton Suspension bridge was quarried here.
What remains is an extraordinary wooded landscape of ridges, hollows and cliffs with a rushing stream.
Buses: 44 (from Bristol Bus Station and Broadmead. Ask for Abbots Rd/Castle Farm Road) & 6
Car: Car park at start of walk at the end of Castle Farm Road.
Bike: Cycling is allowed on this section of the river path – The River Avon Trail (Bristol - Bath)
