Avon Valley Woodlands

Image representing this journey

A Walk though the Avon Valley Woodlands close to Hanham.

This circular walk takes the walker along the River Avon past Riverside cottages before cutting into deep woodland.

These woods were once quarries. The stone for the piers of the Clifton Suspension bridge was quarried here.

What remains is an extraordinary wooded landscape of ridges, hollows and cliffs with a rushing stream.
